Infant & Toddler classes

 

Infant Aquatics

Groups:
6 months to 18 months (Baby).
18 months – 3 years (Toddler).

Teacher ratio – 1 : 8
Class duration: 30 minutes
Children are grouped in ages and have their parent or guardian with them in the water.

Baby classes
Introduce young children to water through fun and educational activities, games and songs. The emphasis is on water awareness, familiarization, mobility and safety.

Skills taught include:

  • Submerging
  • Floating
  • Body rotation
  • Bubbles
  • Cues
  • Signals and more

Toddler
These classes have a bigger emphasis on independence, treading, kicking, propulsion, submersion’s and jumping. The class is still taught through fun and educational activities, games and song.

  • Kicking
  • Independence
  • Submerging
  • Treading
  • Stroke demonstration
  • Body rotation
  • Bubbles
  • Cues
  • Signals and more

Research shows that children under five who have swimming lessons develop better language, literacy and numeracy skills and are likely to be more prepared for the transition to school.
